The Betty and John Allman Award for 2019

This year the Betty and John Allman award went to Mid North Coast Local Health District - Community Palliative Care for their “Life Matters” biography program which aims to record the memories of terminally ill cancer patients.

$50,000 awarded to local cancer projects in the Hastings, Macleay and Camden Haven Region. Grants can be submitted by anyone involved in the management or treatment of cancer or community groups supporting cancer patients.

Received a grant to purchase a Physic Touch device for treatment of smaller areas of stubborn lymphoedema in the head, neck and breast areas

Received a grant for the purchase of 2 vital monitors to interface with the hospitals electronic Medical Records saving nurses time and making it easier for Clinical trial Patients.

Received a grant to fund staff to attend the National Palliative Conference in Perth and to assist in providing 2 Vicarious Loss & Trauma Workshops


Port Macquarie Base Hospital - Respiratory Department

Received a grant co-funded with the Base Hospital for the purchase of a bedside ultrasound device which will improve efficiency and safety of diagnosis and treatment of cancer related complications

Received a grant for the purchase of 6 Roho Quadro Cushions which will provide comfort for the sick, frail and less mobile of the palliative care patients


The Macleay Valley Home Hospice&nbsp;

The Macleay Valley Home Hospice 

Received a grant for the purchase of various items to assist patients in home care such as walking frames, in home portable showers and toilets, utility chairs and a high back chair


Port Macquarie-Hastings Breast Cancer Support Group

Port Macquarie-Hastings Breast Cancer Support Group

Received a grant to fund the cost of hiring a room at the Port Macquarie Library for their Breast Cancer Support Group meetings. Meetings held on the 3rd Friday of every month. Anyone diagnosed with breast cancer welcome

Received a grant to assist with the running of a residential retreat for patients recovering from and still coping with cancer treatments. The aim is to help rebuild patients psychological and physical health.

The Mid North Coast Cancer Institute - Cultural Enhancement Program

Received a grant for the purchase of or commissioning of artwork by indigenous local artists to be hung in prominent positions around the MNCCI to help indigenous patients feel more welcome.

Kempsey District Hospital - Palliative Care Community

Received a grant for the purchase of an oxygen concentrator which will be used in patients homes to assist with their breathing difficulties


The Annual Betty and John Allman Award

This year the $200 award was presented to Louise Finnegan to assist with the Cultural Enhancement Program at the MNCCI
