The Hastings Cancer Trust Grants Program 

Grants Applications are open between August and October each year.

The Grants Program is the means by which we distribute funds raised to help our community purchase or improve vital equipment and facilities.

Hastings Cancer Trust has seen the generosity of the community translated into much needed funding for a range of projects which have supported cancer patients and clinicians within our local area.

The money raised through fundraising efforts and generous donations is administered by trustees. The grants are awarded based on the value of the project to the community.

The Hastings Cancer Trust invites anyone involved in the management of cancer treatment, or indeed, community organisations that support cancer patients, cancer survivors and their carers in the Hastings, Camden Haven and Macleay areas to apply for a Grant.

The Grant application process opens on the first Monday in August and closes on the first Friday in October of each year.

Hastings Cancer Trust

The Grants Program has given back over $1,500,000 to projects in our community, enabling local organisations to:
- Purchase state-of-the-art equipment for cancer treatment
- Run world-class clinical trials
- Offer specialists training for nurses, radiation therapists and other cancer specialists clinicians
- Accommodation for patients and families during treatment
- Improve the quality of local palliative care
- Develop educational resources, workshops and support programs for local cancer patients and their families

Port City Bowling Club CEO David Gearing, Marketing Manager Katy-Lee Waldron, Administration Manager Rose Willis and Travelling Bowlers Brian Riordan and Mitch Wilkins presenting a grant of $9,082 to Emma Kneipp of the Wauchope Palliative Care Unit for the purchase of 4 x Ultracare Mobile Liftchairs. This grant was fully funded by a Port City Club Community Grant.

Michelle Donge & Allison McLaughlin represented the Macleay Valley Home Hospice team and accepted a grant certificate for $3,370 which will be used to purchase 3 Lightweight wheelchairs. The certificate was presented to them by Norm Kruk representing Expressway Spares.

Corporate sponsors of the HCT, Jerome & Dianne Robinson of 40 Winks, presented a certificate to Donna Kuhn of the Hastings Home Hospice for the value of $5,508. This will be used for the purchase of 6 Roho Cushions.

The trustees and friends of the HCT are very proud to be able to award a grant of $120,000 to Dr Baerin Houghton for the purchase of a processor to support an Endobronchial Ultrasound, a state of the art diagnostic piece of equipment currently not available on the Mid North Coast. Naomi Hunter and Kristian Murphy from HEM Property are equally as proud to have joined forces with Shane Gregory from CrossFit2444 to raise $26,000 which will be allocated directly to the purchase. Naomi and Kristian are seen here presenting the certificate to Dr Houghton.

The MNCCI Clinical Trial Unit received a 2023 grant of $5,300 which will partially fund the purchase of an ECG machine. Brendon & Katy Roods presented the certificate to Kiran Buckley and Victoria Miller.

Chris Kirkman from Angove Family Winemakers presented a grant certificate for $9,000 to Melissa Court and Nez Cook from the Wauchope District Memorial Hospital surgical unit. The funds will be used to purchase a Colposcope for the unit. The Colposcope is highly effective in preventing the development of cervical cancer. The scope is currently not available at the Wauchope Hospital. This grant was partially funded by a donation from the Wauchope Patchwork Quilters.
