Hastings Cancer Trust presents 13 groups with combined $50,000 for ongoing effort
The Hastings Cancer Trust has presented 13 local groups and organisations with funding.The presentations were held on Thursday November 14, at Rydges Port Macquarie.Over $50,000 was presented to a variety of local cancer service organisations.Dr Stephen Begbie hosting the evening.A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the coveted Betty and John Allman Award.The recipients were:Port Macquarie Hastings Breast Cancer Support Group, rental for meeting room; Mid North Coast Cancer Institute, patient education resource; Mid North Coast Institute, host residential retreat for people living with breast cancer; Port Macquarie Base Hospital, syringe drive, 50 comfort rugs and four bluetooth speakers; Hastings Home Hospice, three syringe drivers and oxygen concentrator.Wauchope District Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, to purchase two sofa beds for family sleepovers; Hastings Community Palliative Care, local education day for staff of community care units in management of breathlessness; Mid North Coast LHD Community Palliative Care, for start up equipment and training of volunteers for life matters biography program.Mid North Coast Cancer Institute, purchase of sozo bis device and accessories; Macleay Valley Home Hospice, NIKI syringe driver; NCAHS Kempsey Palliative Care, to purchase oxygen concentrator; Port Macquarie Base Hospital Ward 3D, develop a wellness space.The Allman Award was presented to the Mid North Coast LHD Community Palliative Care for the life matters biography program.For more information on the Hastings Cancer Trust go to their website.
