Meet the Directors

Dr Stephen Begbie

Hastings Cancer Trust Founder and Chairman. Dr Stephen Begbie has been a Medical Oncologist and Cancer Researcher in Port Macquarie for 26 years. He saw the need for the Hastings Cancer Trust to enhance cancer services provided through the development of the Mid North Cancer Institute. Dr Begbie is passionate about developing regional health care and has been a member of the MNCLHD Governing Board and is currently Executive Clinical Director of the Hastings Macleay Network. One of his priorities for the Trust is to see it engage with local volunteers so that it can become a durable and valuable service to cancer patients and their carers into the future.

Shane Ryan

Shane is a Chartered Accountant and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and brings over 30 years of financial, operational, taxation and advisory experience. He is a Non-Executive Director of various client companies and not for profit organisations. Shane is the Principal of a Chartered Accounting Practice and has previously held CFO positions in listed companies, Private Equity investees and in the Public sector and worked with a ‘Big 4’ Accounting firm.

Wayne Evans OAM

The former magistrate for Port Macquarie, Wayne is a member of a number of local boards. He is also a long term member of Sailability which is dedicated to providing sailing to people with disabilities.

Peter Treseder AO

Peter has led a variety of not-for-profit organisations for over two decades. He has been awarded three Order of Australia’ (all for different contributions to the nation). In part, these awards are in recognition of his outstanding ability to support philanthropy he is passionate about.
