In 2026, the Hastings Cancer Trust provided a $20,000 grant to the Wauchope Palliative Care unit to fund the renovation of its kitchen and common area. 

On any given day, six of the eight patients receiving end of life care at the unit have a cancer diagnosis, making this a meaningful space for patients and their loved ones.
