The Hastings Cancer Trust 2018 Winter Glimmer Ball is set to put the fun back into fundraising. The ball is the 2018 major fundraiser for the Hastings Cancer Trust, a non-profit organisation formed in 2005 to enhance the quality of cancer care in the region.
The June 23 ball at Sails Port Macquarie by Rydges will include fine dining and dancing, live and silent auctions and a big band.Donations and fundraising have allowed the trust to grant almost $1 million since 2005 through its annual grants program, providing supplementary funding for projects and needs beyond the scope on ongoing government funding for cancer services.
Hastings Cancer Trust fundraising coordinator Steve Thomas said the ball would put the fun back into fundraising.“People can trust the Hastings Cancer Trust will use the monies wisely and locally,” he said. People can also make donations to the Hastings Cancer Trust. Trustees administer all the funds received. The money stays in the area. The trust will call for grant applications in late August for its next funding round.
Hastings Cancer Trust chair Dr Stephen Begbie said the benefit of the trust had always been that the money was all raised locally and was all spent locally. “One of the exciting things at the moment is to see the growth of the Friends of Hastings Cancer Trust who are really doing a great job fundraising to improve the cancer journey of patients and carers in our area,” he said. Dr Begbie said the trust was very excited to hold the Winter Glimmer Ball at the upgraded Sails Port Macquarie by Rydges.
The 2018 ball, at the Cape Ballroom at Sails Port Macquarie by Rydges, runs from 6pm to 11.30pm on June 23.Tickets cost $130 a person and are available at 123tix.com.au/events/sails
